Pawleys Island - A Safe Place To Buy A Home - Tara Melech, KW Realty, (843) 907-8787

Ahhh, Pawleys Island, a pleasent place to call home. The pace of life in Pawleys Island is definitely hard to get used to if you are from anywhere but here. Coming from a much larger city, one of the best things I found is the lack of danger & crime. The dangers of a large city compared to Pawleys Island are almost comical in a way. I am not saying that crime is comical or doesn't happen here, but to live here is a blessing because of the lack there of. For instance, if you pickup a local newspaper like The Georgetown Times (Published for Georgetown County) you will first notice how small it is compared to other city publications. The crime section is one of the first things I look for because there seems to always be some report about how a teenager called the cops because his mom wouldn't let him play is wii, or how a dispute broke out between husband and wife over what channel to watch, which is usually alcohol consumption related.

Pawleys Island has been the first place I felt safe enough to start a family. It doesn't hurt that the Waccamaw School District is one of the best in the area. This story is kind of embarrassing, but in the first days of living in our residence, my husband had to make a business trip so I was left alone in this big ol' house in Pawleys Island, and I knew no one. Needless to say, the ninny that I am, I was nervous to be alone. To prepare for the lonely nights by myself, I put something sharp under my pillow (a pair of scissors),made sure all the doors were locked about 3 times, and then programmed 911 on speed dial. When prgramming 911, I must have called the cops on accident because they called me right back. I was shocked. They then told me that it was routine to send someone out just to make sure that I am ok. It was less than 5 minutes before the men in blue of Pawleys Island were at my doorstep. My new neighbors must have been thinking the worst, but I never heard from them about it. You see, it is so quiet and dark at night here, very different from a big city. I guess I have watched too many scary movies. Long story short, I really had nothing to worry about.

In my opinion, anyone who is looking to get away from the crime of big city life should consider Pawleys Island, South Carolina. If you are interested in buying or selling property in the Pawleys Island area, please consider me for the job. I appreciate the opportunity to help with all your real estate needs.
